A Letter from the Superintendent
Dear CSD Families & Community,
One of the things that makes Canby truly special is the deep connection generations of families share with our schools. Parents return with their children to the same classrooms, hallways, and playgrounds where their own childhood memories were made. Traditions are passed down, new memories take shape, and a shared sense of pride brings our community together. A community member recently described our schools as the crown jewels of Canby. I couldn’t agree more. Our schools are more than buildings; they are the heart of our community and a big part of what makes Canby such a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
In the Canby School District, we believe every student deserves an excellent education grounded in strong core academics. Reading, writing, mathematics, science, and critical thinking provide the foundation students need to navigate an ever-changing world and build successful futures. But education is about more than academic achievement. It is also about developing character, building confidence, learning perseverance, embracing responsibility, and treating others with respect. Through our award-winning athletics, state champion band and choir programs, K–12 art and music programming, and top-notch Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, students discover their strengths, explore their passions, develop real-world skills, and find their place. These experiences, woven together with the traditions and relationships that define our schools, create a sense of belonging that stays with students long after graduation.
I am incredibly proud of our schools and deeply grateful to the educators, families, and community members who invest in them every day. As we look to the future, we have both an opportunity and a responsibility to preserve what makes our schools special while ensuring they continue to meet the needs of future generations. That means protecting the experiences that make childhood meaningful, providing safe and inspiring places to learn, and remaining true to the values that define our community.
My door is always open. I welcome your questions, ideas, concerns, hopes and contributions. The future of Canby’s schools belongs to all of us, and we are at our best when we listen to one another, learn together, and work toward a shared vision for our children.
With gratitude and pride,
Jennifer Patterson
